2024 Art Circle Workshops for Children

16th and 17th century Indian painters recorded the natural world with great precision. Exotic birds, flowering plants and wild animals beckon us into a magical contemplative world as you learn the time-honored techniques of miniature painting. We will prepare handmade papers with clay, mix natural colors in seashells, paint with tiny brushes and embellish our borders with our own block printed designs. This is an extremely popular workshop and I am thrilled to offer it again!

For students ages 8-15, limited enrollment

Cost $390 includes all materials.

A beautiful workshop interweaving drawing, painting, printmaking and collage techniques. Students will create a large-scale collage inspired by our lively study of how artists in different cultures have depicted flowers, from the exquisite botanical renderings of 16th century Indian painters to the exuberant still lifes of Matisse. With wonderful materials at hand (including bejeweled bric-a-brac I find in the markets in Jaipur!), you will delve into a dazzling exploration of this most evocative subject.
