Painted Flower Collages

Each petal, leaf and stamen of the central flower is cut or torn from hand made paper and glued onto the panel. The flower is then painted in the ancient technique of Indian miniature painting which uses tiny squirrel hair brushes and brilliant hand ground pigments. Every brushstroke is layered upon the last, in lovely contemplative detail. Encircling the flower an intricate collage blooms: lyrical compositions of scraps of antique patterned papers, hand dyed silks, Venetian lace, calicoes, and written words, random but curious.
